County Road #10 major reconstruction, scheduled for spring

United Counties of Leeds & Grenville (UCLG) has scheduled a major reconstruction of County Road #10 this spring.  Yes, I can hear all of the drivers who use County Road #10 cheering!!!!!!

One of the challenges with this major project is that 20+ culverts need to be replaced on the stretch of road from Grady Road to the boundary between UCLG and Lanark County and necessitates the road to be completely closed until the culverts are replaced.  The posted detour will be Althorpe Road and County Road #36, although many people will likely use Narrow Locks Road instead.

UCLG expects the complete closure of County Road #10 to last for 10 weeks.  When I met with the Superintendent of Public Works last week, I urged him to expedite both the tendering  and the Council approval process to not allow any lag time between the two.  That being said, I expect that the tender will be discussed and approved on April 9.

So the bad news is a detour on County Road #10, the good news is a major reconstruction of the road between the county line and Grady Road that will be completed before summer.
