Plans have changed a bit this year to give you a better flow to the day. The morning will kick off with a Canada 1st BBQ, hosted by Project 19. You will find them on Spring St by the Visitor Centre from 8:00 – 10:30. Meal deal is $5 and all proceeds go to Project 19 community projects. Their poster is below.
The Canada Day parade will kick off at 11:00 from the George St entrance of Lockwood Memorial Park. Kids get your bikes decorated in red and white to celebrate Canada Day. This is a day when we march, walk, stroll with each other, feeling the pride we have in the Village and our Country. All ages, residents, cottagers and visitors, are invited and I hope to see many of you dressed in red and white! The parade will end at the Community Centre and Fire Hall on Spring St after taking a tour through the downtown.
The beach is your next destination and you can enjoy the water and sand all afternoon. Fireworks at Rideau Vista in the evening will end another memorable July 1st celebration.
Each event is the result of community members planning for community members. Thank you to everyone involved in making July 1st a proud Canadian celebration.
