WESTPORT GARDENS – AT THEIR PEAK!

As I walk through the village, I feel inspired and at peace at the same time. The reason? The gardens are all at their peak – displaying vibrant reds, blues, yellows, pinks, and lush greens.

Sadly, it won’t be long before they transition to winter. Many maple trees are already showing their autumn red colours.

Let’s all express our gratitude to Westport Blooms and every home and business owner who takes the time and effort to bring colour and beauty to our village.

Thank you for caring about our hometown.

New Senior Fitness Equipment at Shillington Park

Congratulations to everyone involved in the creation of the senior fitness area at Shillington Park. Sponsors, including Tracey Philips, acknowledged the importance of senior-appropriate fitness equipment. A special shoutout to Diana Kemp for her leadership.

MPP Clark was accompanied by Mayors Hoogenboom and Jones for the grand opening ribbon-cutting ceremony. MPP Clark tried out some of the equipment, demonstrating that people of all ages can enjoy a workout on this new apparatus.out on this new apparatus.

What a day in Westport – Sat, July 20, 2024

The airport hosted a fly-in. Tracey and Paul had a huge turnout at their market. The Lions Club had a full day at the beach showcasing Bob Burtch. In addition to all that, Mr. Joe Aragona packed over 250 cars into Lockwood Park and the Westport Communications Centre for the Westport 1st Annual Car Show. Quite an eventful day for our village!

Congratulations to the organizers, volunteers and the public who participated and made these events successful.

HAPPY CANADA DAY, WESTPORT

Thank you to all involved in planning such a busy and fun-filled day. It began with the Library Board cooking breakfast on Spring St., the Westport Council recognizing David Egan as Westport’s Senior of the Year (congratulations Dave!) and Westport Arts Council unveiling their 2024 Art on the Street “one-of-a-kind” Muskoka chairs.

The bicycle parade was earlier this year – at 10:30 – and so many children were riding the route with their parents, grandparents and family pets. The Westport Legion Colour Party and the Lions Club led the parade and the OPP and Rideau Lakes Fire Department lent their presence to keep us safe. Thank you.

The afternoon at Lions Beach was full of games and fun activities. Of course, it all winds up at dusk with the fireworks near the Legion. Lots more going on in the area.

Westport Council hopes everyone enjoyed the Day. Glad you joined in!

Committed to community. Dedicated to progress.
