Dancing Moon Gallery and Tea Room – THANK YOU!!!!

When Dancing Moon Gallery and Tea Room told me this summer that they wanted to donate a 13-ton piece of marble to the Village for Lockwood Park, I was thrilled.  CAO Paul Snider and I checked it out where it was being stored and we were even more impressed once we saw the beauty that only nature can create.

The past several months have been spent trying to arrange for this amazing 13-ton gift to be transported to the park.  Without the strong support of Paul Rodgers and Tackaberry & Sons Construction, that wouldn’t have happened.  But it did – on Wednesday this week.

Thank you again, Tara and John.  We are hoping to arrange for a sculptor to work in-situ this summer.  If you have any suggestions, please let me know.

Sometimes, it is the little things…

I have commented before about the pride that we take in our Village and the different ways it can be seen, felt and touched.  Some businesses have taken the big step this year to make major changes to their stores, several new business have opened, home owners are painting, roofing, gardening, putting on additions to their homes.  Yes – Pride of ownership, proud to be part of Westport.

This week I noticed changes to signs.  Although perhaps not as “grand” as some of the other changes people are making at their businesses or homes, they are just as important.  Business signs are what visitors and tourists notice right away, while forming their thoughts about our Village.  There are many other stunning and professional signs in the Village, and I hope you agree that these two help to show what makes Westport such a visually rich place in which to live, work and visit.

The first is a new sign at St Edward Catholic School and Church on Bedford St.  Its installation was finished last week.  Clean lines, professionally finished.

The second sign I want to share with you is at the Dancing Moon Gallery and TEA ROOM at the corner of Spring and Church Sts.  Just like the gallery owners, this sign is creative and delivers a very clear message of what you will find inside.

“Whole lotta shakin'” going on in Westport this spring!

What a spring we are having in the ‘Port.  Lots of properties are being sold, several of which have been on the market for some time.  Best wishes to those who are moving to other places – please come back and visit.   And a big home town welcome to the new residents and business owners!

Several new businesses have set up shop and we thank you for deciding to take that big step in OUR Village.  Please take time to welcome the newcomers at:

Salon 204 – Hair and Nail Salon (Church St)

Trinity Artisan Boutique (Church St)

The Black Pearl Gallery (Church St)

dancing moon Gallery (Spring St) (Tara and John rented in 2017, but purchased the studio property in 2018)

Westport Brewery (Main St) will open later this summer.

Please drop by and welcome the new owners of Vanilla Bean and perhaps have a cone while you are visiting.

In addition, two of our cornerstone business owners decided to reinvest in their businesses and both have created larger, “customer centred” floor plans.  Amazing and deeply appreciated – Paul @ Herlehy Home Building Centre and Tracey @ Westport Village IDA Pharmacy.  Congratulations.

Happy Birthday to Jake by the lake: A life is Good Genuine Neighbourhood Shoppe.  Cynthia and John Pringle held a wonderful birthday party yesterday (May 19) to celebrate 10 years of business in Westport.

We live and work in the best place in Canada.  Be proud!
