Street Cleaners expected Monday!!!

Yes, it true.  On Friday afternoon, we were “guaranteed” that the street cleaners will be in the Village on Monday morning.  In anticipation that this commitment will be met, it would be beneficial if everyone could park their vehicles off the streets on Monday morning, if possible.  Parking at the municipal lot and community centre should help.  As the notice from the contractor came to us late, could you please share it with your family, neighbours and friends who are in the Village?

Thank you.  (fingers crossed!)

Canada Day ’19 – July 1st in Westport

Plans have changed a bit this year to give you a better flow to the day.  The morning will kick off with a Canada 1st BBQ, hosted by Project 19.  You will find them on Spring St by the Visitor Centre from 8:00 – 10:30.  Meal deal is $5 and all proceeds go to Project 19 community projects.  Their poster is below.

The Canada Day parade will kick off at 11:00 from the George St entrance of Lockwood Memorial Park.  Kids get your bikes decorated in red and white to celebrate Canada Day. This is a day when we march, walk, stroll with each other, feeling the pride we have in the Village and our Country.  All ages, residents, cottagers and visitors, are invited and I hope to see many of you dressed in red and white!  The parade will end at the Community Centre and Fire Hall on Spring St after taking a tour through the downtown.

The beach is your next destination and you can enjoy the water and sand all afternoon.  Fireworks at Rideau Vista in the evening will end another memorable July 1st celebration.

Each event is the result of community members planning for community members.  Thank you to everyone involved in making July 1st a proud Canadian celebration.

Public Works 1, Weather 0

As the US Postal Creed goes ….”Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom”, this was the same commitment from Peter Evans, Public Works Supervisor, to get the swings open for the week-end.  And with the help from Derek and Jamie, they are!

The rain has slowed down the completion of the spinner,  hopefully some dry weather will allow the cement to cure so the mulch can be put in place.  Still some cleaning up to do, but the swings are in use.  Thank you Peter, Derek and Jamie and Dave from Aarde!

And look who I found enjoying themselves this afternoon?
