Breakfast with the Mayor – Wednesday, October 23 @ 8:00, Cove Country Inn

Hope to see everyone tomorrow morning at the Breakfast with the Mayor.

The first speaker is Mr Barry Nabatian, A.A.S., B.Sc., M.Sc., who is the Director of Market Research at Shore.Tanner&Associates in Ottawa.  He will be providing insight into retail markets and trends.

The second guest is Mr Stephen Rolston, owner of Land Ark homes and is the developer for the “Rice Farm” in Westport.  Stephen will be sharing information on the residential development he plans for that property. This is an information session for Mr Rolston to share his plans.

If you are planning on breakfast, pls send Patti Mueller an email, so that the Cove has an accurate count.  pmueller@villageofwestpot.ca

Daffodils will be welcoming people to Westport this spring.

A small group of volunteers will be planting 180 daffodil bulbs around the “Welcome to Westport” sign on County Road #42 this fall.  They hope to lay a “carpet” of daffodils for the spring.   The bulbs are being purchased from Vessey’s.

At last night’s Committee of the Whole meeting, council suggested that I blog this information should any other groups of volunteers wish to do the same at another  “Welcome to Westport” sign.

Please let me know if you are interested.  It may still be possible to add to the Vessey order.  I should be able to find a sponsor to cover the cost of the bulbs.  Sorry – the labour is your own!

BREAKFAST WITH THE MAYOR – WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 23, 2019

We will have two guests at the October 23 Breakfast with the Mayor being held at the Cove Country Inn.  The first is Mr Barry Nabatian, A.A.S., B.Sc., M.Sc., who is the Director of Market Research at Shore.Tanner&Associates in Ottawa.  He will be providing insight into retail markets and trends.  Mr Nabatian had a delegation with Council on October 8 and we found his insights interesting.

The second guest is Mr Stephen Rolston, owner of Land Ark homes and is the developer for the “Rice Farm” in Westport.  Stephen will be sharing information on the residential development he plans for that property.  There will be other “procedural” meetings in relation to the land development, as they are required by law.  This is an information session for Mr Rolston to share his plans.  Please let your colleagues and friends know about these two presentations, they will be very informative.

To ensure that both speakers have adequate time, the presentations will begin at 8:30 sharp.  Breakfast is served at 8:00. ($10 pp).   Please let Patti Mueller know pmueller@villageofwestport.ca  if you plan to come for breakfast, so she can let the Cove know.

All members of Council hope to see you on October 23, 2019.

Please call anytime if you have questions – 273-9195.

Flower Beds have new caretakers in Lockwood Park

Many thanks to St Paul’s Anglican Church congregants, Frances Hazell, Mary Chaikowsky and Arthur Thompson for the effort they have put into the two Memorial Gate flower beds in Lockwood Park.

The past couple of years, I weeded them in advance of the July 1 celebrations, but these orphan gardens needed a lot of TLC.  What a difference some time and effort have made. Frances and Mary planted beautiful annuals in time for Canada Day and ensured they were watered and maintained all summer.

Last week, Frances, Mary and Arthur worked together to plant hydrangeas.  I am sure they will be stunning next summer.  Thank you for taking the initiative and making our park more colourful.
