Ben Nevis. Tallest mountain in the UK. 4406 ft. And WE SCALED ITS SUMMIT! On the way up we met lots of people from all over the world – all here for different reasons. The path began relatively easy but became increasingly rocky, arduous and exposed. We had trained hard for this day however still found that we had not fully appreciated how difficult the mountain would be – both ascending and descending. BUT WE DID IT!!! And experienced one of the best days of our lives. So when we took a break on the mountain summit in Scotland, it was only proper to get caught up on the local news!
Grade 2/3 chair for Art on the Street has a new home … on my front verandah!!!
Westport Arts Council held a summer fund raiser called “Art on the Street”. 6 artists each painted a different Muskoka wooden chair, using a Canadian theme to celebrate our 150Birthday. Tickets were sold on the chairs for the past 8 weeks. At MUSICwestport yesterday (Saturday, August 19) my ticket was drawn and I won the Rideau Vista Public School Grade 2/3 chair. I am thrilled! I met the artists in June when I picked the chair up and am so happy that it is now in a place of honour on my front verandah. Well done!

County Road 36 closed for repairs, beginning August 23rd.
This is to advise you of a road closure on County Road 36 – south of the Lanark County border – to replace two culverts. Due to the depth of the culvert, the road will be closed from Wednesday, August 23rd to Wednesday, August 30th.

ASSOCIATION OF MUNICIPALITIES OF ONTARIO (AMO) CONFERENCE
The annual conference for Mayors is taking place in Ottawa. Lots of interesting speakers and timely information. Had the opportunity to meet with Minister Chiarelli to update him on our progress with building the new waste water system and to remind him of our financial challenges. He continues to be receptive.
Thank you Manotick Antique Boat Show!!
What a fabulous day in the Harbour. Over 40 beautiful, well cared for antique boats filled our docks today and gave lots of thrills and jogged memories of other summers at the lake. Hundreds of people wandered about the harbour today, enjoying the best of what summer has to offer. Well … at least until the thunderstorms cut the show a little short. Here are some photos of the boats and the Village BBQ team – Councillors Huth and Schwinghamer, Rob Roberts and Rick Bonner. Thank you everyone!
